ผมได้เคยโพสต์วิธีการเปิดใช้งาน Remote Desktop ใน Windows 7 ซึ่งจะเป็นการเปิดรับการรีโมทจากคอมพิวเตอร์เครื่องอื่นๆ ในบทความเรื่อง Enable Remote Desktop in Windows 7 และได้แนะนำโปรแกรมไคลเอ็นต์ Remote Desktop Connection ของ Windows 7 ในบทความเรื่อง Introducing Windows 7 Remote Desktop Connection บทความนี้จะเป็นการสาธิตวิธีการใช้งานรีโมทจาก Windows 7 ไปยังวินโดวส์เวอร์ชันอื่นๆ (Windows XP, Windows Server 2003/2008 และ Windows7)
หมายเหตุ: ข้อมูลในบทความนี้จะอยู่บนพื้นฐาน Windows 7 Ultimate (RTM)
โดยการใช้งาน Remote Desktop Connection บน Windows 7 มีขั้นตอนดังนี้
1. เปิดโปรแกรม Remote Desktop ด้วยวิธีการใดวิธีการหนึ่ง ดังนี้
1.1 คลิก Start คลิก All Programs คลิก Accessories แล้วคลิก Remote Desktop Connection ซึ่งจะได้หน้าต่างดังรูปที่ 1
1.2 คลิก Start พิมพ์ mstsc ในช่อง Search programs and files แล้วกด Enter หรือคลิกที่ mstsc ในรายการโปรแกรม
2. ในไดอะล็อกบ็อกซ์ Remote Desktop Connection ให้ใส่หมายเลขไอพีหรือชื่อเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ต้องการเชื่อมต่อ เสร็จแล้วคลิกปุ่ม Connect

3. การทำงานของ RDC จะขึ้นอยู่กับว่าเครื่องรีโมทคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ทำการเชื่อมต่อใช้ระบบปฏิบัติการเวอร์ชันไหน ดังนี้
หมายเหตุ:
1. โดยดีฟอลท์ Server authentication จะเป็น Warn me
2. การคอนฟิก Server authentication จะคอนฟิกจากแท็บ Advanced
• เครื่องรีโมทคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้ระบบปฏิบัติการ Windows XP หรือ Windows Server 2003
- Windows 7 คอนฟิก Server authentication เป็น Connect and don't warn me ก็จะทำการเชื่อมต่อโดยไม่ทำการแจ้งเตือนแต่อย่างใด
- Windows 7 คอนฟิก Server authentication เป็น Warn me โปรแกรมจะทำการจะทำการแจ้งเตือนดังรูปที่ 2 ถ้าผู้ใช้ต้องการเชื่อมต่อให้คลิก Yes

- Windows 7 คอนฟิก Server authentication เป็น Do not connect จะไม่สามารถทำการเชื่อมต่อกับระบบ Windows XP และ Windows Server 2003 ได้ ซึ่งโปรแกรมจะแจ้งข้อผิดพลาดดังรูปที่ 3
รูปที่ 3 Your remote desktop connection failed because the remote computer cannot authenticated.
• เครื่องรีโมทคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้ระบบปฏิบัติการ Windows Vista หรือ Windows Server 2008 ที่ตั้งค่า Remote Desktop เป็นระดับ Allow connections from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (more secure)
- Windows 7 คอนฟิกของ Server authentication เป็น Connect and don't warn me
สามารถใช้เชื่อมต่อได้ โดยไม่ทำการแจ้งเตือนแต่อย่างใด
- Windows 7 คอนฟิกของ Server authentication เป็น Warn me สามารถใช้เชื่อมต่อได้ โปรแกรมจะทำการจะทำการแจ้งเตือนดังรูปที่ 4 ถ้าผู้ใช้ต้องการเชื่อมต่อให้คลิก Yes

- Windows 7 คอนฟิก Server authentication เป็น Do not connect จะไม่สามารถเชื่อมต่อได้ โดยโปรแกรมจะทำการแจ้งเตือนดังรูปที่ 5

• เครื่องรีโมทคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้ระบบปฏิบัติการ Windows Vista หรือ Windows Server 2008 ที่ตั้งค่า Remote Desktop เป็นระดับ Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)
- Windows 7 คอนฟิกของ Server authentication จะเป็น Connect and don't warn me
สามารถใช้เชื่อมต่อได้ โดยไม่ทำการแจ้งเตือนแต่อย่างใด
- Windows 7 คอนฟิกของ Server authentication จะเป็น Warn me โปรแกรมจะทำการแจ้งเตือนดังรูปที่ 4 ด้านบน ถ้าผู้ใช้ต้องการเชื่อมต่อให้คลิก Yes
- Windows 7 คอนฟิก Server authentication เป็น Do not connect จะไม่สามารถเชื่อมต่อได้ โดยโปรแกรมจะทำการแจ้งเตือนดังรูปที่ 5 ด้านบน
4. ในกรณีที่เชื่อมต่อกับเครื่องรีโมทคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้ Windows XP หรือ Windows Server 2003 ในหน้า Log On to Windows (รูปที่ 8) ให้ป้อน User name และ Password (ที่มีสิทธิ์ใช้งานแบบรีโมท) เสร็จแล้วคลิก OK เพื่อทำการล็อกออน

กรณีการเชื่อมต่อกับเครื่องรีโมทคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ใช้ Windows Vista หรือ Windows Server 2008 ในไดอะล็อกบ็อกซ์ Windows Security ดังรูปที่ 9 ให้ใส่ User name และ Password เสร็จแล้วคลิก OK เพื่อทำการล็อกออน

5. หลังจากล็อกออนเสร็จแล้วสามารถใช้งานต่างๆ ได้เสมือนนั่งทำงานหน้าเครื่อง และเมื่อใช้งานเสร็จแล้วให้ทำการ Log Off ทุกครั้ง
